Arthur has been complaining of being tired A LOT,
so I called the cardiologist.
Since he was to have a cardiac stress test this Spring they just bumped that appointment up
to today.
So we had to be at Phoenix Children's Hospital at 730am
Despite the hour we had to awake at, Arthur was thrilled
to miss a little school.
Fast Facts About the Exercise (Stress) Test
- The exercise test, sometimes called a stress test, shows how well your child’s heart works and adjusts to different levels of activity.
- It is done at Children’s Hospital in a room with a special electrocardiogram (e-LECK-tro-CARD-ee-o-gram) or EKG machine, and a treadmill.
- Your child’s EKG and blood pressure will be taken while he or she exercises on a treadmill.
Hooking him up. Arthur is always such a trooper
(this is actually him)
Here he is running at a fast pace and incline.
They really push these kids.
I don't know which worried me more.....
his heart or his epilepsy.
Either one could derail this test and cause all kinds of problems
But he did great. No problems :)
In the room a
Defibrillator charged and ready to go at a moments notice.
Life with a cardiac kid
He amazes me everyday with all he endures.
He did so well. Followed every instruction to the tee.
He did SO well, that he only missed the first two classes of the day.
Arthur didn't share my excitement
It takes a few weeks to get the breathing part of the test back. Then they put that together with the exercise part to get an overall picture.
He also got stuck with a 24hr HOLTER monitor.

We don't actually see the cardiologist till the end of March, unless all these
results come back worrisome.
At that appointment we will go over everything.
Never a dull moment in this household....LOL

Next up.....Neurologist
Did I mention how thankful I am for flexible spending?
